Updates & Timeline

{NEW} 5.28.26

Dear Families,

Over the past several weeks, we have been deeply encouraged by the number of families, staff, and community members who desire to preserve the Christ-centered school community so many have valued for years. Families continue expressing a desire for a school marked by strong relationships, teaching excellence, professionalism, stability, and a healthy environment for their students to learn and grow.

What initially began as conversations surrounding a possible future school has now grown into something much more tangible. Through the support of respected community leaders, interested families, and a growing number of teachers and staff, we believe the vision for Hope Christian School is moving from vision to a more viable reality.

We deeply value continuing forward the culture of excellence in Christian teaching and learning that so many families have appreciated and invested in for years. Our hope is to provide continuity in the things families value most: strong academics, healthy leadership, professionalism, meaningful relationships, and a school culture where students are truly known and cared for. The purpose of this effort is not simply to start another school, but to preserve the community of believers that has existed at Lansing Christian School for generations, while creating a place of stability for students, families, and staff alike.

At this time, several longstanding leaders within this community have agreed to help guide and support this effort. Dave Tebben and Tom Hofman have agreed to take leadership roles. They are beginning to actively engage with teams of experienced and qualified members of our community to provide for the needs of the school. Wendy Hofman has agreed to serve our community in an advisory role. Ryan Batson has expressed interest in being engaged in the new school, and at this time, 30 teachers and staff members from within our school community have expressed a desire to participate in the creation of a new school and are currently in ongoing conversations with leadership regarding what that may look like moving forward.

At the same time, there are still important pieces we are continuing to work through carefully and responsibly. We are currently working alongside accountants and legal counsel to ensure the organizational, financial, and operational foundations of a new school are established properly from the beginning.

We know many families are carrying understandable uncertainty as they make decisions regarding next year, and we do not take that lightly. Our desire remains to communicate honestly about both the progress being made and the challenges still in front of us. We are committed to providing you with weekly updates to assist families as they navigate decisions for the upcoming school year.

Most of all, we ask for your continued prayers. Please pray for wisdom, unity, discernment, provision, open doors, and clarity as leadership continues exploring the future of Hope Christian School.

Thank you again for your continued encouragement, patience, prayers, and support during this season.

With hope,

The Hope Christian School Planning Team

5.22.26: Update

We are incredibly thankful for the desire from both families and staff to continue in the beautiful Christ-centered education and community that we know and love.

At this time, we have received interest from over 130 students K-12, and the list continues to grow! In addition, over 25 teachers and staff have also expressed interest in serving a new school in a variety of ways. This confirms the strong demand in our community to remain together.

In light of the pressure many are feeling as they make decisions for next year, we are doing our very best to move this from vision to reality as quickly as possible. Please rest assured that our planning team is working swiftly behind the scenes to secure a physical location and thoughtfully build the foundational structure necessary to support a stable and thriving school community.

We commit to communicating with you again next week with additional updates as we move forward together.

For the glory of Christ and in the service of His people,

The Planning Team
